Support is the role that everyone wants to have on the opposing team but that no one wants to play. However, good supports win games that other roles could not win alone. This ranking lists the 26 best media of the moment. Thresh has been in S-tier for ages because his kit covers absolutely everything: engage, rescue, vision, peel. Nautilus because a well placed hook from the bottom of the river is a direct ticket to the ground. Lulu because preventing your ADC from dying by spamming W and R is an art. In D-tier picks that work better in other roles.

S-Tier: the picks that hurt

Thresh, Nautilus, Lulu, Karma, Sona, Milio are clearly above the rest at the moment. If you want to win games without too much hassle, start there.

D-Tier: to avoid in ranked

Alistar, Sion, Galio, Taric. Not necessarily bad in themselves, just not adapted to the current meta. For normal games, no problem.

A
Blitzcrank, Morgana, Pyke, Bard, Lux, Renata Glasc, Rakan Very solid, slightly below S-tier but perfectly viable in ranked.
B
Braum, Leona, Soraka, Janna, Nami, Xerath, Zyra, Zilean Correct if you master them. Not the strongest picks but not bad either.
C
Vel'Koz, Senna, Séraphine, Brand, Amumu, Tahm Kench Situational. It can work in certain compositions but you have to know what you are doing.
